Friday the 10th of September 

Welcome Back

It was so exciting, to see all of our children arriving last week in their brand-new uniforms-- a fantastic way to start what we are sure shall be a great year.

The children have all settled back into school life well. Last week was spent getting used to new routines, expectations and staff teams.  

This week, all the children have been working incredibly hard . Our teachers have been really impressed with how eager the children have been to learn.

Thank you to all of our parents for working with us during these first few days of the new school year. We feel that the drop-off and pick up routines are now working much more smoothly, thanks to your co-operation and support.

The updated (Version 14) of the Covid-19 Risk Assessment has now been approved and is available to view on the school website.

Eat Smart Sheffield 

At Eat Smart Sheffield, we are very much looking forward to continuing our work with schools, pupils and their families, focussing on a good school food culture to help support healthy lifestyles.

As a starter for this academic year, we have produced a newsletter for parents/carers.  

It contains information and top tips for eating healthily throughout the day including breakfast ideas, school meals, healthy snacks & drinks, and family recipes.

School Lunches

The children having hot dinners, have absolutely loved them this week. In the words of our Y6 children, “…they are simply delicious!”

Firm favourites already appear to be the weekly roast...custard with puddings and the very posh salad bar!

It has also been fantastic to actually have all of our children back in the hall for lunchtimes — which they have been unable to do for the past 18 months.

Having our onsite kitchen, has really made such a positive difference. The children (and a few staff too !) are really looking forward to lunchtimes.

I realise that this notice appears on several newsletters — however it is still a real issue and a cause of concern.

Please can we ask again, that you do not park on the double yellow lines and do not park(or drop off children) on the zig zag lines in front of the school. These markings are there for a reason, to keep the children and pedestrians safe.

Yesterday, it was also brought to my attention that a neighbours' car had been hit by a vehicle driven by a parent. She was understandably furious as she received no apology or explanation, which is unacceptable.

Please can I ask again that you park safely and considerately when dropping off your child/children. This may mean that you have to park a little further away and walk your child/children into school.

We shall once again be contacting Parking Services for further advice. 

 

It has been incredibly hard for the teachers to choose the “Star of the Week,” this week. All the children have settled down really well and worked hard. However, as always, one or two have gone that extra mile, showing real determination and self belief.

Nursery : All the returning Nursery Noodles: for coming back to school so confident and happy and ready to learn.

Reception : Niamh H — For  being super sensible following our class rules and being a kind friend to everyone. Well done Niamh.

Y1: Gracie, who has begun Y1 really well and has shown a brilliant attitude to her learning.

Y2: Jacob L, has been a model of excellence in Y2. He has shown beautiful writing, a willingness to learn in maths and an all round fantastic attitude to school.

Y3: Jacob, for using conjunctions to extend his writing along with some fantastic handwriting.

Y4: All of Y4 ! Miss Hampsey and Mrs Roe are really proud of the way that they have settled into a new school year.

Y5: Jayden, who has been brilliant ! He is trying really hard in lessons and is making a real effort socially and behaviourally in the playground too !

Y6: Geri and Grace, for making a brilliant start at St Josephs.

 

This is a brand-new award, for this year...” The Language Legend Award.”

This week, Mrs Cosgrove has awarded this to Alessandro in Y4. He has started French lessons with great enthusiasm and a positive attitude to learning! Bravo Alessandro!’

Meet the Teacher Sessions 

Today, all parents should receive an email from your childs class teacher with a Powerpoint “Meet the Teacher.”

This should provide you with the necessary information that you need as your child starts their new year group.

As always, if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact the school office and the class teacher will then contact you at their earliest convenience.
