Friday 28th May 

We hope that you all have a wonderful half-term break and are able to enjoy the long awaited sunshine !

We look forward to seeing all the children back in school on Monday the 7th of June.

If you or a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19 during the half-term holiday then please let school know by emailing

 office@st-josephs.sheffield.sch.uk 

This email address shall be monitored regularly and someone will respond to you as soon as possible.

Please can we ask that after collecting your younger children at 3pm and whilst waiting for older siblings to leave at 3:15pm , you make sure that your younger children stay with you.

It has been noted that the children are all playing together on the school field. As you know we are being really strict whilst the children are in school - to ensure that bubbles do not mix. We shall continue to do this in an effort to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Your assistance really would be appreciated, in making sure that the children do not mix when they are no longer under our supervision.

Please also make sure that your child/children do not play in the prayer garden on the field. This structure is currently out of bounds to the children and is awaiting repairs.

As always, thank you for your assistance in this matter.

 

Nursery : Henry for being so helpful at home and at school.

Reception : T’Nyren for showing a great positive attitude towards his learning this week. 

Year 1: Ruby  and Klae have both been fantastic in our music lesson this week. We have been singing together for the first time and they both helped make sure all their friends were singing the right parts at the right times, fantastic musicians and friends!

Year 2: Noah for our star award, because he has changed his mindset.  He is now a more focussed learner, which shows in his writing skills.  

Year3 : Ose. He has had a fantastic start to the week and has come to school with a great mindset.

Year 4: Sam - For working incredibly hard in maths and always having a positive attitude to learning. 

Year 5 :Ava and Florence — The girls worked together as a team to research, then created a fabulous Powerpoint all about Neptune! 

Year 6: Niamh, for putting in so much effort to her learning. She has strived to improve her writing this week, and we are proud of her. 

 

A book recommendation from Miss Phillips: 

The Smeds and the Smoos by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

This is a quirky story of 2 aliens who, despite stern words from their grandparents to stay away from each other, run away and fall in love. This is one of my favourite stories because it not only has a lovely storyline, but it has unique vocabulary which gets children’s imaginations going and allows them to picture far-off lands and the adventures that the Smeds and the Smoos go on. There is so much to get out of this book, and the bright and colourful pictures capture the reader's attention. Suitable for EYFS and KS1.
