Life is far from perfect, but there are lots of reasons for optimism, even in these strange times.  Setting positive goals for the future gives our lives a sense of direction and purpose. And although we face many challenges there are also lots of reasons to stay hopeful. By consciously choosing our priorities we can overcome issues, make progress and focus on what really matters.

Feeling good about the future is important for our happiness. We all need goals to motivate us and these need to be challenging enough to excite us, but also achievable. If we try to attempt the impossible this brings unnecessary stress.

Choosing ambitious but realistic goals gives our lives direction and brings a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when we achieve them.  

This week in our Virtual assembly, we shared a story about optimism and thought about all of the things we have in our lives, that we really should be grateful for . We also had a think about the future...what do we want to become ?...and what do we need to do to achieve this...?

I hope that you all have a loveley weekend, spending quality family time with your wonderful children. 

 

Message to all Y2, Y4 and Y5 PARENTS

Father Mark has asked that after half term, you make sure that the children do not play on the grass, outside his house. Father Mark has been very kind, in allowing us to use his garden and driveway for  our morning staggered starts . However as the weather has now changed for the worst, he has noticed that the lawn is becoming damaged.

Please make sure that your children remain with you, until it is their time to enter school.

Please make sure that your child attends school with suitable outdoor clothing. As you know we are still spending large parts of the school day outdoors. It has been noticed that some children are still coming to school  without their coat.

Please also make sure that everything(coat/hat/gloves and scarf)  is labelled clearly with their full name.

Thank you to all of you who have taken part in this years parents evening and SEN reviews. Please note next Friday, the 23rd of October, is the last day of this term.

The children return on Monday the 2nd of November.

Next Friday, all being well, a photographer shall be visiting the school, to take some photos for a promotional film for our website.

We already have your consent forms in respect of children's photographs, if things have changed , then please call the office to let us  know.

 

Emergency services ask for public help over dark nights period - South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue

The Fire Service and South Yorkshire Police, have put together a film for school children,  explaining some of the dangers that may be present at this time of the year. All our teachers will share this with their classes next week, before we break up.

The new prefect team for 20-21 received their badges this week.

Each one of them impressed me with not only their written application, but also with the way in which they expressed themselves when we met.

I know that they will all be excellent and will rise to any

challenges we set .

Golden Children

Another busy week at St Josephs ! It is getting harder each week for the teachers to pick out any one child, because so many of them are working incredibly hard !

Nursery : Niamh for being such a kind friend

Reception:  William, for trying new activities and also for doing some fantastic maths work on the part-part whole model.

Y1: Jacob, he has done fantastic independent sentence writing during our English lessons, creating a character description of a Wild Thing from the book 'Where the Wild Things Are'. He always has a fantastic attitude to learning and gets on with all his work independently and without fuss.

Y2: Reuben , for an excellent piece of writing, that he did completely independently.

Y3:  Francesca for earning her 500 hours award with the children's university.

Y4: Attie this week for going over and above and working on the Friday we had the INSET to create a character description with underlined fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and rhetorical questions! 

Y5: Florence has worked really hard on her online learning this week and has participated in the online video calls.

Y6: Niamh,   for excellent Maths work especially mastering long division!
