St Joseph's Academy Parent Portal - Thursday 20th July 2023

It has been a busy week for our Year 6 children as they reach the end of their time at St Joseph's. On Monday they performed The Tempest by William Shakespeare. It is a tragic and comedic tale about revenge, magic, love and forgiveness. The setting of the story is a remote island in the Mediterranean Sea where an exiled duke, Prospero, and his daughter Miranda live.

The acting, dancing, scenery and costumes were great and there were even some soloists—very brave! Well done everyone!

On Tuesday 18th July, our amazing year six children got dressed up to the nines for their end of year Prom Night. The children looked fantastic as they posed for the camera. It was a truly amazing evening of fun and memories for this incredible group of young men and women. We are so very proud of them and wish them all the very best as they proceed along their educational journey into secondary school.

Games afternoon

The children in Year 3 decided that they wanted a games afternoon. This was a really lovely way to spend their last few days together before they move into Year 4.

Marvellous Medieval Banquet

Year 1 had a marvellous medieval banquet as part of their end of year celebrations. They jousted, were entertained by the court jesters, ate like kings and drank dragons blood! They even had time to learn how to dance. Much merriment was had by all

Ahoy there me hearties!

On Wednesday Reception had a pirate party in the afternoon. They have been busy making pirate hats, pirate maps, swords, hooks and eye patches ready for the party. The children had fun playing pass the parcel then pin the eyepatch on the pirate. Pirate Lauren and pirate Alicia came for fun and games in the hall before going back to class for pirate treats!

Farewell - Adieu

We had our last assembly on Thursday morning where we said a fond farewell to

We are so sorry to see all our leavers go, but are sure you will join us in thanking them all for their service and dedication to St Joseph's and wish them every happiness and success for the future.

Sports Day results

From St Joseph's Sports Day 2023, we combined the scores from the Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and the winners fo the house cup are

closely followed by Saints in second place.

From the Friends of St Joseph's

Thank you for all your support over the school year. We haven’t done as many events as in previous years, we’ve been mindful of cost of living increases. The events we have had, have been amazing – as ever, we are grateful for your ongoing support.

We’re already working on ideas for the next school year, if you’d like to get involved please let the school office know as we’re always in need of help and volunteers.

The Summer Raffle raised £447 - More information to follow regarding what it will be spent on.

We will be having a whole school history event at the start of the new term in September- 6th Sept-15th Sept.

The theme is “Jobs” exploring our community from the present now, delving into the rich history of the past and even consider Handsworth of the future!

Did you know that the oldest brass band in THE WORLD is down the road in Woodhouse…!! There’s a lot of history around here which needs to be celebrated!
