Philosophy for Children
What is P4C?
“The aim of a thinking skills programme such as P4C is not to turn children into philosophers, but to help them become more thoughtful, more reflective, more considerate and more reason-able individuals.”
Professor Lipman
At St. Joseph's we teach philosophy for children. We focus on thinking skills and communal dialogue (‘philosophising’), and we aim to build ‘communities of enquiry’ where the children develop the 4C’s: creative, critical, collaborative and caring thinking skills. We aim to nurture children to think together with a view to increasing their understanding and appreciation of the world around them and of each other.
