Admissions Policy Consultation – St Joseph’s Primary School, a Catholic Voluntary Academy
We are consulting on our planned admissions arrangements for pupils applying for places in the academic year beginning September 2026. The consultation will run for 6 weeks from 16th December 2024 to 26th January 2025.
This consultation is taking place inline with the requirements to consult on admissions arrangements every seven years. We also have the following proposed changes to our arrangements.
- The addition of children of staff as an oversubscription category.
A copy of our draft admissions arrangements can be found on our website at

We welcome your views on our proposed arrangements. We will also be happy to answer any questions that you may have. You can share your views or questions by e-mail to enquiries@st-josephs.sheffield.sch.uk.
Please ensure that if you want to share your views you do so by Sunday 26th January 2025. After this date, we will share all views with our Board of Governors to inform their decision on our admission arrangements. Arrangements will be published by 15th February 2025.
St Joseph’s Primary School, a CVA is a Church aided school in the Diocese of Hallam. This means that the members of Parish and the Diocese of Hallam have contributed towards the cost of building the school and continue to care for its buildings and its people.
The school provides distinctive Christ centred, Catholic education for children aged 4+ to 11+ years, with priority being given to Catholic children who live within the parish of St Joseph’s, Handsworth.
It is a Catholic Voluntary Academy in which the Governing Body is responsible for admissions. It is guided in that responsibility by the requirements of law; the requirements of the Trust Deed and the school’s Instrument of Government; by advice from the Diocesan Trustees and its duty to the Catholic community and the Common Good.
Please note that admission to St Joseph’s Primary School, a Catholic Voluntary Academy, does not guarantee admission to a Catholic High School, which has its own admission policy.
