Enrichment
At St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy, we believe that all children are entitled to a rich and wide curriculum which will help them to develop and grow to become confident members of the school and the wider community.
Sporting Opportunities:
Our pupils are very enthusiastic about sport and have enjoyed taking part in many after school sports clubs, and representing our school for sporting festivals and competitions.
This year we have offered an extensive variety of sports clubs including football, running, rugby, Funergise, multi-sports and martial arts. We have also gained a love for sports and active games through festivals, with children attending festivals for Change For Life, multi-skills, indoor athletics; and also participating in the annual Y6 Football Catholic Cup competition and Y5 boys and girls competing in the Kwik Cricket finals.
We had a proud day at the English Institute of Sport where all children from Y1-6 participated in our St. Joseph’s Sports Day 2017. The children represented our school well and also witnessed Great British Olympic gold medal winner Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill filming as we competed in a wide range of sporting activities. We had a fantastic day and hope to repeat the occasion many times in the future.
Music at St Josephs:
We offer a number of musical opportunities. Children are taught a weekly music/singing lesson with a specialist teacher. In addition to this they can choose to take part in the school choir, after school club. The choir have performed at a number of events from coffee mornings for our Parishioners to concerts at other churches. The highlight of the choir’s year is the Young Voices event. Children in KS2 also have the opportunity to learn to play the violin and the recorder.
