Advent 2024
Advent is a holy time of preparation. Each week we will light another candle on our Advent wreaths and watch as the light from the wreath grows brighter. The growing light is a sign of our growing hope as we wait for the birth of our Saviour, Jesus.
At St Joseph's we begin the season of Advent with the Blessing of advent wreaths. The Liturgy Leaders lead a whole school celebration of the word in the school hall before Fr Mark blesses our class Advent wreaths and our travelling cribs.
Travelling Crib
As part of our preparation for Advent each class has a travelling crib. During Advent the Travelling Crib Bag is taken home by a different child each night. When your child brings home their class crib you spend a little time exploring the contents with your child. The travelling crib bag contains:
- A Crib and a set of Nativity figures,
- A candle to light by the crib,
- A simple prayer leaflet so that you may pray together,
- A ‘note book’ in which you might like to write a prayer or share a thought about this holy season.
It would be great to see some pictures of you sharing the story at home. These can be posted on class dojo or included in the notebook. The travelling crib bags for our younger children have been updated this year and each bag contains a new Nativity story book for you to share together.
