Lent 2025
Each day in Lent the liturgy leaders will lead a Lenten reflection based on the CAFOD resources. This time of prayerful reflection on the weekly Gospel uses a variety of prayer styles and worship to ensure engagement from pupils and provides them with experience of new ways of praying
Lent in a bag
Throughout the forty days of Lent we remember the time Jesus spent in the wilderness. To help us focus our thoughts and reflections each week we have introduced ‘Lent in a Bag’. ‘Lent in a Bag’ helps us to consider what we need to journey through the wilderness together. The ‘Lent in a Bag’ bags are distributed to each class every week and the items are added to the class prayer focus area during the first daily reflection of the week. Each bag also includes guidance sheets to help direct peoples thoughts and reflections. ‘Lent in a Bag’ helps us to consider what we need to journey through that wilderness and reflect upon what might help us when we find ourselves facing a difficult time in our own lives.

The Easter Mystery
‘The Easter Mystery’ is similar to the ‘Travelling Crib’. It is an opportunity for school to share with families a project that enables them to think about the true meaning of Easter.
A bag containing the following items is put together and the bags go home with a different child every day throughout Lent. Families can take a photograph of their children sharing the resource at home or the children can record a response in the accompanying notebook. This is returned to school the next day and included in the class display.
Each bag contains:
- A leaflet explaining the resource.
- a holding cross
- a tealight and holder
- a small purple cloth
- a book of the Easter story
- a notebook for families to record their response or to write a family prayer.
