People Who Help Us - Firefighters
This week we will be starting our topic “People Who Help Us” and we are focusing on Firefighters. We will be using non-fiction books to have a look at the role of firefighters in our community. We will be adding to our role play and getting the children involved in enhancing our own fire station.
This week is also Anti-Bullying week and we will be talking about how we respect each other and what makes a good friend.
In phonics we will be finishing set 1 and focusing on learning our first tricky word set. If possible can you include these as part of your reading routines at home? Thank you to all the very special guests we had visiting us for our phonics sessions this week, and just a reminder to anyone who would still like to attend you are invited to our phonics lesson on Thursday 15th from 9 – 9:30 am.
In maths we will be finishing off our introduction to addition and subtraction using the part, part, whole model and moving on to weights and measures. We will be making playdough in groups and using the vocabulary full, empty and half full.
If any parents would like to come in and discuss their own jobs and how you might help people please let a member of the team know!
